Rich
autumn colors are one of nature's most breathtaking "productions".
Like a curtain rising, spring slips softly toward the northern states in
delicate pastels. Bur in September, the tapestry plunges toward the
southern highlands in a magnificent riot of color.
The
vivid display appears only after the leaves have been sealed off from the
tree. Whenever broad-leaved deciduous forests encounter winter weather,
they must seal themselves in to survive.

colors, usually at their peak in mid-October.
